Silver Lining?

The good news of a mother and two children rescued alive and well from a car buried for four days is a glimmer of light in an otherwise dark week for Niigata as yet another powerful quake puts a stop to fledgling reconstruction efforts attempting to reopen lifelines to the stricken area.

There have been reports in reputable magazines that these quakes could trigger a series of “sympathetic” earthquakes in surrounding regions, including “The Big One”. So, we’ve finally decided to get our emergency kit in order.

Although in the meantime I’ll have to check my translation because I’ve never heard of sympathetic earthquakes before.
