XP on Laptop goes way of the bin

I’m still not happy with XP as a server on an older computer, even running Apache it’s slow, with a lot of disk thrashing accompanying every page.

So, after much deliberation, and a raft of attempted performance tweaks which changed nothing, my brief fling with Windows XP used as a server is over and I’ve decided to move my server over to good old Mandrake Linux 10 (secure kernel mode), which needs a lot less than 128Mb or RAM to run well.

So it seems I’ll be using Linux after all!

Then it’s XP 0 – Linux 1, as a server at least.
